Books I've Been Reading

These past couple of weeks I’ve been majorly under the weather— it started with the flu and then moved on to a sinus infection a few days after said flu. With lots of water and a great deal of rest, I couldn’t think of a better time to get through my current stack of books. Keep reading for a list of all the good reads that kept me company.

Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein

This may seem a little “woo-woo” compared to my usual reading line-up, but I’m always ever so curious about spirituality and matters of the mind. In Gabrielle Bernstein’s latest she teaches us methods on how to co-create the life you want. I’m currently in the midst of writing out my “feel good” list and already attracting some amazing things!

The Dutch House by Ann Patchett

Get ready to be moved by the bond between siblings, Danny and Maeve! This bleak fairytale takes place over the course of five decades showcasing the touching relationship between brother and sister— and the house they grew up in. I don’t want to give too much away as it’s a beautiful story capturing love, loss, grief, and forgiveness.

Heart Berries: A Memoir by Terese Marie Mailhot

A collection of emotional essays, Terese Marie Mailhot recounts her coming of age all while writing her way out of trauma. In Heart Berries, Mailhot bravely tells her story as a Native American woman who struggles with abuse, mental illness, and survival. Raw, heartbreaking and touching— it’s a memoir not to forget.

Wild Game: My Mother, Her Lover, and Me by Adrienne Brodeur

Adrienne, only fourteen, suddenly finds herself entangled in her mother’s scandalous affair. Awakened by her mother at midnight, a confession instantly changes their lives and reframes their relationship. I just started this one and am already hooked!

Essential Well Being: A Modern Guide to Using Essential Oils in Beauty, Body, and Home Rituals by Sara Panton

One of the things that I’m obsessed with is my Vitruvi diffuser. While I adore the gorgeous design, I love how it helps purify the air to help you breathe better, especially when feeling under the weather. And what better accompaniment than the new book by Vitruvi’s co-founder, Sara Panton. Full of essential oil recipes and rituals, I’m so excited to experiment with them all! Lavender and eucalyptus or lavender with ylang ylang are essential feel-good mixes.
