My Morning Matcha

SO MATCHA LOVE

Mmm— Matcha, it’s definitely having a moment.

Recently, I introduced a matcha latte to my mornings and it has become a pretty prominent part. This delicious green tea is full of antioxidants, fiber and chlorophyll. All of that combined with a gentle caffeine boost—I can’t think of a more perfect way to start the day!


WHAT YOU NEED

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 teaspoon matcha powder

dash of date syrup

WHAT YOU DO

Blender

Whisk water, almond milk and matcha powder in a saucepan on stove until warm. Pour into blender, and blend with date syrup (if adding) until frothy. Pour into mug and enjoy!

* If you have a Vitamix (my favorite kitchen essential), blend all ingredients together on soup setting until warm and frothy. Pour into mug and enjoy!

Or

No blender, no problem

Heat water and almond milk in a saucepan on stove until warm. In a mug, add the matcha powder with a small amount of the warm water/almond milk mixture. Whisk briskly, to make a thick green paste. Then pour remaining hot almond milk and water into the paste and stir. If adding date syrup, add here, stir and enjoy!
